CASES OF INTEREST: NOVEMBER 2023

Defective Heart Valve Causes Serious Complications
Our client had undergone an aortic valve replacement in 2013. In 2017, she began to experience symptoms and her cardiologist concluded that the valve was leaking. She was then required to undergo open heart surgery for a second time to replace the valve. The surgery was made more complicated due to scar tissue from the first surgery. Our office is pursuing a product liability claim against the heart valve manufacturer.

Employee Walking into Work Hit By Car
Our client was walking through his employer’s parking lot when he was struck by a car driven by an employee of a different employer at the job site. Following the incident, he was quickly taken to a nearby hospital where he was found to have a fractured pelvis and back. He required emergency surgery to repair his pelvis. Our office is pursuing a workers’ compensation claim and a separate negligence claim against the driver.

Ohio Resident Injured in Georgia Accident
Our client was visiting Georgia when he was involved in an automobile accident. Our client properly stopped as traffic came to an abrupt stop. However, the vehicle behind him was
unable to stop and rear-ended our client’s vehicle. The force of the collision sent our client’s vehicle into the one in front of him. Our client suffered a rotator cuff tear and required surgery. Our office is pursuing a negligence claim against the at-fault driver.
