One thing you might notice when you visit the Charles Boyk Law Offices is the dogs. Yes, you read it correctly, dogs in the office. Charles Boyk has allowed the staff’s furry friends to come into the office for as long as the staff remembers. On my first day in the office, I was introduced to the team like any first day on the job.

As I was taken around the office for introductions, I met Prince. No, Prince is not our new attorney’s name, but a white Maltese who loves to stop by meetings with his ball, drop it at your feet, and wait expectantly for a game of catch. Next, Penny, Dexter, and Ellie Mae got my attention. These are not the names of our new paralegals but the French Bulldogs who, like Prince, are here daily.

At first, I thought I was mistaken when I walked by “their” office and the excited barking told me the three Frenchies were happy to have a new co-worker.

In the following days, I met Gypsy, a tiny, sweet Maltipoo and momma’s girl.

Then a Dachshund named Frankie who has the most incredible colored coat I have ever seen and a personality to match. I learned that most of the staff have furry members in their family and got to meet a cutie named Bella who is an American Bulldog and Boo Boo, a pug-mix who loves dressing up in Halloween costumes.

Then there is Zeppelin, a Bernese Mountain Dog, as cool and memorable as the band he was named after. The Pomchi’s (Pomeranian/Chihuahua), Bubba and Layla, sometimes visit the office but really prefer a “hybrid” workday with preference to napping at home.

After meeting the dogs, I was curious as to why it started in the first place. I was told that our founder and the firm’s owner, Chuck Boyk, loves animals and encourages his staff to bring their pets to work. He has found that the pets make our workplace happier. The animals help lower stress level, improve communication/collaboration, and enhance his employees’ work/life balance. They also create a friendly and calming environment for not only the staff, but also our clients who may not be used to an attorney’s office. So, if you happen to stop by the office do not be surprised to find our “Pawyers” hard at work or maybe play but most likely napping.
